I would like to start this first post off on the right foot by describing a great experience I had with my Dad on Monday, June 9th. As most of you know, I am living at the L'Abri in Switzerland and have been since the beginning of January. Being far away from home, it is always a welcome surprise when a familiar face visits. A few friends have come my way, and I theirs, since I have been here, but there is nothing like having family visit, especially my Dad.
In stead of flying through California as usual after a regular business trip to southeast Asia, he decided to go the long way - through Switzerland. Conveniently, the Euro2008 Tournament is taking place right now in Switzerland. Our hotel was located on the main "hang-out" street in Zurich, where all the bars were open. Blocked off for pedestrians, the street displayed hundreds of televisions. My dad and I hopped from bar to bar trying different beers and smoking cigars that we acquired earlier that day enjoying the games (and pretending that we knew something about soccer). Having my Dad visit solidified my stay in Europe as complete. While I continue to love being at L'Abri, I can't wait to get home.
